Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

MEM05076 - Perform welding supervision

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Determine welding supervision job requirements

  1. Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  2. Comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times
  3. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with SOPs
  4. Identify welding supervision job requirements from specifications, drawings, job sheets or work instructions
  5. Review welding requirements and relevant standards and codes and determine if a new WPS or previously approved WPS is required
  6. Develop weld procedure specifications in accordance with SOPs
  7. Plan variables and sequence checks against documentation
  8. Qualify WPS in accordance with relevant standards or codes
  9. Prepare documentation for record keeping
